Punjab has launched the Green Credit Programme to fight climate change by encouraging recycling and environmental action.
In partnership with a private firm, smart machines will be installed in Lahore’s universities and markets to collect plastic bottles.
Users can earn green credits — up to Rs 1,000 — by inserting bottles, which will be recycled into eco-friendly materials like bricks and sidewalks.
Around 500 tons of daily plastic waste can be processed. Over 18,000 junkyards in Lahore will also benefit via app-based collection.
The initiative promotes youth, women, and community involvement.
